Mildred Catherine “Midge” Kessel, age 88 of North Elm Street, Moorefield, W.Va., passed away Wednesday evening, August 10, 2016 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, W.Va. Born February 12, 1928 in Grant County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Sylvanus Carr, Sr. and Hilda Catherine Stover Carr. She was a member of the Moorefield Presbyterian Church, enjoyed making crafts with the Homemaker’s clubs; enjoyed reading all the time and working crossword puzzles. She was employed as a proof reader for the Moorefield Examiner for many years.Her husband, Dwight O. Kessel preceded her in death in October 2009. Nine brothers and a sister also preceded her in death.
Surviving is a son, Kevin L. Kessel of Moorefield, W.Va.; two daughters, Karen Stump and Janice C. Miley of Moorefield, W.Va.; four sisters, Nina C. Weatherholtz and Lona “Sis” Sherman of Moorefield, W.Va., Mary C. Thomas of Boston, Mass. and Edna C. Swick of Ft. Ashby, W.Va.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services were conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., with the Rev. Harold Tongen officiating. Interment followed at the Olivet Cemetery.
