Carla F. Hardy

Carla Funkhouser Hardy, 44, of Moorefield, W.Va., went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the Winchester Medical Center.

Carla was born on November 20, 1971 in Winchester, Va., a daughter of Margaret A. Bott Funkhouser of Baker, W.Va. and the late Woodrow W. “Junior” Funkhouser.

She was a 1990 graduate of East Hardy High School and a 1994 graduate of Shepherd University.
She worked as a program coordinator for the WV Conservation Agency for 20 years.

She was a member of the Moorefield Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher. An active community, agriculture and outreach advocate. She loved the outdoors, hiking, running, going to the beach and being with her family.

Carla married Joshua J. Hardy on March 23, 2001 at the Moorefield Presbyterian Church.

Surviving with her husband of 15 years are two daughters: Sydney Grace and Sophia Reese Hardy both of Moorefield, W.Va.; a brother: Jeffrey A. Funkhouser of Baker, W.Va.; a niece, six nephews, a great-niece and four great-nephews; special pets: Madeline, Tippy, Titus and Butter.

A Celebration of Life is to be held at the East Hardy High School Auditorium in Baker, W.Va. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 2 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Harold Tongen, Rev. Michael Funkhouser and Craig Good. Inurnment will be private at a later date.

Family will receive friends at the auditorium on Saturday from 12-2 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sydney & Sophia Hardy Educational Fund, C/O Summit Community Bank, 300 N. Main Street, Moorefield, WV 26836.

Arrangements are by the Loy-Giffin Funeral Home in Wardensville, W.Va.
