Polly Ellen Wratchford Smith, age 94 of North Main Street, Moorefield, W.Va., passed away Monday morning, July 11, 2016 at her residence.
She was born on December 1, 1921 in Hardy Co., W.Va., and was a daughter of the late James Russell Wratchford and Retha Victoria Veach Wratchford.
She received her Associates Degree in Nursing from Sacred Heart in Cumberland, Md. and was the Hardy County Health Nurse in 1950. Her husband of 58 years, Harold Robert Smith, preceded her in death in July 2005. Two sisters and four brothers also preceded her in death.
Surviving is a son, James “Jay” and Christine Smith of Old Fields, W.Va.; a brother, Dwight Ellis Wratchford of Chambersburg, Pa.; a sister, Bonnie W. Ellis of Baltimore, Md.; two grandchildren, Joshua Aaron Smith of Old Fields, W.Va. and Jessica Aline Moreton of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; and a great-granddaughter, Taylor Nicol Webber.
Graveside services were conducted on Friday, July 15, 2016 at Bethel Cemetery, Old Fields Road, Old Fields, W.Va., with Pastor Russell Webster officiating. Interment followed.
