Nancy Bell Helmick, age 90 of Central Avenue, Moorefield, W.Va. formerly of Purgitsville, W.Va., passed away Sunday evening, November 20, 2016 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, W.Va.
She was born on March 31, 1926 in Moorefield, W.Va. and was a daughter of the late Seymor Lorenza Hartman and Martha Ellen Seabolt Hartman.
Her husband of 66 years, Frankie O. Helmick preceded her in death in May 2009. A son, Robert F. Helmick, two grandsons, Eric Helmick and Leon Bennett, Jr., a step-grandson, four sisters, Icie Keplinger, Pearl Culp, Dottie Lipscomb and Ruby Turner and four brothers, William, Wilbert, Paul and Eugene also preceded her in death. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth and Mary Sue Helmick of Sterling, Va. and Carl Helmick of Petersburg, W.Va.; four daughters, Judith Bennett of Petersburg, W.Va., Jane Wellons of Moorefield, W.Va., Wilma and Eddie Sherman of Moorefield, W.Va. and Deborah and Homer Davis of Burlington, W.Va.; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., with Pastors Rick Bergdoll and Jeff Anderson officiating. Interment followed at the South Branch Memorial Gardens near Petersburg, W.Va.
