Carol Joyce Pearce, 72, of Purgitsville, W.Va., formerly of Keyser, W.Va., died Monday, October 10, 2016 at the Hampshire Memorial Hospital, Romney, W.Va.
Born on February 20, 1944 at Cumberland, Md., she was a daughter of the late James Joseph and Gertrude Marguerite (Corbin) Butts. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John Patrick “Patty” Pearce on June 19, 2007; a granddaughter, Jessica Pearce; two sisters, Mary Ann Mongold and Dolores Rinard and two brothers, Harold and Gerald Butts.
Surviving are three sons, John P. Pearce and wife Debbie of Winchester, Va., Jefferey A. Pearce and wife Holly of Moorefield, W.Va. and Brian K. Pearce of Purgitsville; two brothers, James E. Butts of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Richard D. Butts of Cumberland; one sister, “Peachie” Rounds of Barton, Md.; five grandchildren, Josh, Jefferey, Nicolas, Patrick and Britini Pearce; four great-grandchildren, Emerson, Jax, Payten and Aubree; two step grandchildren, Josh and Katey Weese; and two step great-grandchildren, Eli and Anna Grace. Also surviving is her special companion “Pepper.”
Funeral services were conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Friday, October 14, 2016 with Pastor Daniel Garlitz officiating. Interment was in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
