Betty Ann Sherman-Ours, age 81, of Arlington, VA, passed away on March 9, 2015. She was born on September 13, 1933 in Moorefield, W.Va., the daughter of the late George Sherman and Eda Fitzwater Sherman. She had been a resident of Arlington for over 50 years.
Betty worked as a secretary for the FBI in the 1950’s and later for F.W. Woolworth Company. She was an active member in her community, volunteering at the election polls with the Arlington Company Electoral Board. She was also a member of Westover Baptist Church in Arlington, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver “Bud” Ours; one sister, Mary Frances Groves; and one brother, Ralph Willis Sherman. She is survived by two daughters, Eda “Edye” West and Elaine Perkins; two sisters, Hazel Miller and Alice Godlove; and one granddaughter, Frances West.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, November 11, 2016 at Olivet Cemetery in Moorefield, W.Va. with Pastors Lucy and Russell Webster.
Arrangements are under the direction of Elmore Funeral Home, Moorefield, W.Va.
